Dance As Medicineâ„¢ (DAM), is a powerful, joyful and transformative practice of conscious movement. It is designed to guide you gently into fully embracing your body, experiencing your emotions, expanding your breath, and unlocking forgotten areas of the body. With DAM, we work not with tension, but with density. What moves well, what doesn't? The dance is an ongoing practice of play, curiosity, and discovering what is waiting to be unwound and discovered in ourselves.
DAM works from the "bottom-up", exploring what the body is holding onto rather than focusing on the mind. Emotions can be stored for years in our body, manifesting as physical pain, reduced mobility, heaviness, and more. Dance As Medicineâ„¢ may be the key to help you awaken that which is ready to evolve within you. Each session will be inspired by different themes such as the elements (earth, air, fire, etc.) light and shadow, nature, or emotions. Drop-in $23 (space permitting).
